40 days of presents... the beginning

So my DH turns 40 at the end of September and I wanted to do something special for him. Each time I have tried in the past to spoil him, I have dismally failed. His birthday has always been a challenge for me...

We'd been dating for two weeks when he had his 30th. ha!, good times!

The next one was more important, we were engaged, living together, and I majorly failed.

I saved up my precious pennies and bought him a playstation 2. I was so proud and thought he'd be a little overwhelmed with my generosity. He wasn't. He was quiet. I asked him if he was happy and he said, "thanks". I was devastated, and after some prodding and whining (by me) he admitted he preferred his games on pc.

I pointed out, we could play together on a PS2 and he conceded, but I will forever remember that fail.

So I needed something big.

Last year, a former boss of mine was in the leadup to her partner's birthday.... (her 60th!) and was returning a spoil, by giving her partner 60 days of gifts in the lead up to the big day. Let me repeat that for effect... 60 DAYS OF PRESENTS!

... and she was hopelessly unorganised, with a box of presents in the back of her car, asking people at work for inspiration...

So I decided, this was going to be the way I would impress DH. So I started planning. Last year. I have a list. Oh, and box of already wrapped gifts.

On the night before day 1, I could barely sleep. It took me about 3 nights to get into the flow and I slept last night... but I also got my first 'aura' migraine and was massively doped out on mersyndol forte (usually 1 phenergan knocks me out for 12 hours).

so I will recap...

day 1.
chocolates and explanation of the days ahead... special chocs too, from the Daintree Estate, Australian grown cocoa beans and made in Queensland. Really lovely actually and staff were lovely. I will buy from them again and highly recommend  http://www.daintreeestates.com/shop.htm
Day 2.
this is a really special gift. It may just be the most wonderful thing I have ever given anyone. And I try really hard to give thoughtful gifts. I asked my gorgeous workmate Frank to write down a song in notes and stuff,  that I used to sing to our son while we waited for DH's bus. Frank, wonderful man that he is, told me he could do better than that. So he recorded and mixed Ben and I singing the song. He then wrote down the sheet music and made a cd cover.

Day 3.
Snow globe!

So far so good, DH is feeling special ♥

I've already told him Saturday night I'm taking to the movies to see Batman, babysitter organised!

There are so many wonderful gifts to go, I can hardly wait to give them to him!

ciao!
